GERMAN WWI M.16 CAMOUFLAGE COMBAT HELMET, IDENTIFIED.
A good ET66 shell, camouflaged in the three colour camouflage of green, brown and a dark ochre with at least two sections of the camouflage pattern using its original apple green, separated by black lines, a small area of the ochre lifting close to the front. To the interior the helmet still has its complete M.16 liner system with each leather pad having its own internal horsehair cushion. Original drawstring. The original pigskin type double buckled strap is present, however where the leather wraps around the aperture on the helmet attachment lug the leather has rotted and the lug itself has dropped off. The helmet is identified by having the original canvas label of the artillery man Kannonier Lapp, who was a member of Field Artillery Regiment No.27 pasted into the rear inner skirt of the helmet.
