USA VIETNAM COMBAT HELMET AIRBORNE PATTERN.
US M1C airborne pattern helmet, the airborne liner comes complete with its web chinstrap assembly and web chin cup, dated 1964 and 1967, all is in very good condition, the helmet shell is fitted with the US Marine Corps Frog skin cover with its integral mosquito net, the mosquito net is tucked up in the between the shell and can be let down for mosquito protection, these covers were produced in the latter stages of World War II with some limited use in the Pacific area and later Korea, with the expansion of the Vietnam war many older stock items were brought out of store and reused which includes these helmet covers, many photographs exist of these helmet covers being used by US Marines in the Vietnam war and some excellent combat photographs of them being worn during the battle for Hue in 1968, the use of airborne pattern helmets by the Marines would appear to be odd but the photographic evidence is clear. We have noticed recently the increased interest in Vietnam period Helmets especially with covers, we recently sold a camouflage covered helmet on which the cover had been in situ since the Vietnam war, the collector we supplied the helmet to removed the cover and for totally unrelated reasons wanted to return the helmet, the interference with this cover totally destroyed the history of this helmet, therefore any collector who purchases this Vietnam helmet with the camouflage mosquito net cover and interferes with it, no returns are possible !!!.
