A fascinating group of paperwork and artefacts belonging to a Private Drage of the 2/7 th Durham Light Infantry. In October 1918 the battalion was ordered to join an allied expedition to North Russia to assist the White Russians in their fight with the new Red army, the battalion left Russia in August 1919. The group comprises, a standard Brodie pattern helmet of World War I, original rough sand paint finish present, some light moth into the cloth material to the upper inner crown of the liner, all the oilskin and string framework in place, with its undamaged leather chinstrap, a contemporary repair has been affected to one of side strap posts. A 1917 trench cap in heavy duty canvas, one what appears to be burn hole to the crown, no moth damage, with the white metal badge of the Durham Light Infantry, strap and side buttons complete, a series of numbers stencilled in black to the liner band, the remains of a soldiers housewife with small label attached K.Drage. 12 pieces of photocopied official records including letters from his commanding officer, one of the pieces of paperwork clearly stamped embarked Glasgow landed Arch Angel, also 2 ration cards 1 for post WW1 and the other 1953-4.
