GERMAN WWII 6th FALLSCHIRMJAGER REGIMENT PARATROOPER HELMET.
A fantastic example of a paratrooper helmet possibly removed from the dead body of the German paratrooper of the 6 th Fallschirmjager Regiment, the size E.T. 68 shell finished in the classic colour patterns of the 6 th para regiment in Normandy, virtually all the finish remaining with some rough sections as can be seen on our web images, the interior liner all complete is suffering from some fatigue to the leather just above the liner and shell sizing stamps, the manufacturers marking still good and clear to the front part of the helmet, serious service usage can be viewed, the rubber cushioning is all solid, the straps have clearly been cut to ease the removal from a lying bodies head, this was quite common practice amongst American souvenir hunters in World War II and particularly in Normandy, there is also a label applied to the shell, is difficult to decipher but could be interpreted as a small hamlet just outside Carenten in Normandy. A historically important helmet, recently discovered in a US garage clearance sale.
