GERMAN WWII LUFTWAFFE OFFICERS VISOR CAP, WHITE AND BLUE COVERS.
Many of the followers of our website would have noticed over the years and our previous printed catalogue subscribers that headdress has been one of our major offerings from all countries and we have specifically handled many items of headdress from the Third Reich and continue to do so. After 50 years in business we have obtained an item that we have never had in our inventory before, a Luftwaffe officers visor cap with its removable white cover (these are generally available) but this example is with its ultra rare removable blue cover. A large size cap, stamped size ‘59’ to the inner tan leather sweatband with its removable top in the standard grained fabric, slight age discoloration with its removable heavy silver wire woven eagle on a white felt background, this is pinned in three places to the removable cover. Standard mohair officers centre band, matching wire woven national cockade and officers cap cords. Standard pebbled side buttons. The peak is of the generally encountered ribbed edge for Luftwaffe officers, some slight crazing to the peak itself. To the interior the already mentioned mid tan leather sweatband with its white rayon interior with an unbroken celluloid lozenge with the gold blocked name of ‘Max Lindner Uniform Fabrik Munich’ with telephone number. Accompanying the cap is the removable blue Luftwaffe officers top with silver waffenfarbe to the crown as on standard Luftwaffe officers caps, matching heavy bullion eagle hand sewn. The interior rather heavyweight rayon lining has discolored overall with an unbroken centre celluloid lozenge with a different maker than the cap body itself, the maker is ‘Ferd.Matt Mutzen Uniformmutzen Germershein’. The cap attaches itself to the cap with the identical press stud that is on the white top and the size is a snug fit over the size 59 body. The removable top has no moth damage or staining.
