GERMAN WWI MECKLENBURG SCHWERIN REGIMENT 90 PICKELAUBE.
Any headdress of the small Duchy of Mecklenburg is rare, this excellent leather skulled helmet with both peaks clearly attached to the main body, this is the model from 1867 with its unusual type spike and ball top. The Mecklenberg multi coloured cockade ( with paint losses ) is situated on the right hand side of the helmet as the helmet is worn and the national cockade on the opposite side with its standard deeply toned Mecklenburg Schwerin front plate. Slightly heavier duty leather chinstrap with brass fittings, complete with its undamaged leather liner and fully regimentally marked to the inner rear peak, which can be seen in a particular type of light, it is ink stamped but clearly reads ‘Regiment 90’ with a date of ‘1890’.
