GERMAN WAFFEN SS INFANTRY OFFICERS CRUSHER CAP.
An ultra rare crusher cap of WWII. Approximately size 58 or 59. The cap is constructed in the ribbed wool material with one moth nip to the crown, also a damaged section either by moth or by tearing to the right of the SS eagle in the area between the upper waffenfarbe and the centre band waffenfarbe. The waffenfabre itself is an unusual pattern with a rope type weave which we have observed on other visor caps. Standard black velvet officers centre band, a set of officers cap cords have been fitted. The eagle is a 475/43 example, the skull is a 499/41 example. The front peak is of the semi crushable fibreboard. To the interior a grey leather sweatband, which has some very mild rodent bites. The interior lining material is of a grey rayon with an unusual motif either hand applied or printed to the upper inner crown area. Further to the interior the sweatband and an ink stamping of either the retailer or manufacturer with the name of ‘Paul Kass’. Faint traces of a light pen or pencilled name to the possible wearer close to the ink stamping.
