GERMAN WWI HESSE DRAGOON PICKLEHAUBE.
A scarce hessian Dragoon Picklehaube, large size leather skull, which has crazed overall, the front and rear peaks securely attached to the main body, the stitching that attaches the peaks to the main skull has not rotted, all of the fittings of the helmet are in white metal indicating either Dragoon Regiment 24 or 25 of the state of Hesse. One securing dome to the spike cross base missing, one of the side caps For the chin scale has been replaced, the helmet has its correct domed chin scales for mounted troops, its rare and correct Hessian fluted spike, the helmet is fitted with the much earlier pattern very large size Hessian painted state cockade, and a later Prussian officers cockade. the helmet is complete with his 18 tongued NCO style liner. The white metal finish to all the fittings has toned to a semi gold, by possibly being in a room full of smokers Nicotine. A scarce helmet.
