BRITISH WWI GLOUCESTERSHIRE REGIMENT BATTLE PATCHED 1902 COMBAT TUNIC.

A superb example of a battle and well service worn enlisted mans model 1902 tunic worn by a corporal Lewis Gunner in the Glorious Gloucesters. This famous regiment steeped in British battle history saw considerable service in WWI. This tunic has stiffened considerably in its years since the First World War. All General Service buttons. Gloucester shoulder titles. A small circular lemon yellow battle patch on each sleeve with corporal stripes below. The Lewis Gunner badge in toned brass fitted between one of the battle patches and one of the set of corporal stripes, also on the same sleeve a set of four overseas stripes in faded blue. To one of the small sections of the interior skeletal lining the numbers ‘4013’ have been applied, on the opposite section of brushed cotton lining a separate number, which has been inked out appears to be ‘2374’ is visible indicating this tunic may have been re-used by a second wearer. The stitching around the lower inner collar has come adrift, the outer collar still intact. To tears or moth damage to the garment. This item is worthy of a high quality collection.
