GERMAN WWII ARMY BLACK PANZER TUNIC.

A well service used black Panzer wrap over tunic, complete with its slip-on pink silk piped shoulder boards, pink silk piped collar patches with oxidisation to the mid to late war Panzer skulls. The breast eagle fitted is of the mid war style, grey Bevo weave on black. Iron Cross 2nd class and East Front ribbon to the upper buttonhole. The tunic is well service used, the nap to the cloth is thin overall except in the protected areas of below the collar and below the wide wrap over collars. There is no evidence of any moth. A stitch repair to the back of the collar where the material has worn through. Constructed in cloth that contains substitute material, the different colour of the substitute materials to complete the wool can be seen overall on the garment. All four closure buttons present, the soldier has created his own 4 outer button holes in the tunic,to make it easier to open and close the tunic, instead of having to get his fingers inside the covering cloth of the fly front. No patches or repairs just general staining, especially to the medal ribbons. To the interior extra padding has been inserted by the wearer for the shoulders. A good degree of the Munich maker’s name but the name is indistinct but the City of Munchen is clear. A full compliment of size numbers with the designation ‘M40’, which indicates that substitute materials were being used as early in the war as 1940. Some stitches loose beneath each armpit. The inner lining is the commonly encountered grey cotton, identical to the interior on M.36 tunics. A good opportunity to purchase a well service and personally modified used tankers jacket.
