GERMAN WWII AFRIKA KORPS MT OFFICERS CAP.

A classic Tropical Afrika Korps field cap for officer with issue officers silver braiding. The Mountain Troops green soutache is factory applied and untouched since issue, with all the correct configuration of original application, matching green thread holding the soutache in place, neat, firm over-stitching around the base of the cap and of course, the over-stitching being the same thread used to construct the whole cap.
The tropical bevo insignia has been removed and replaced with officers level equivalent, this was a common action by officers, both roundel and adler are period field applied. All four air vents keep their olive enamelled paint and one period field repair to the top of the hat.
The inside has its typical red lining, which has become detached on the rear areas of the cap. Signs of wear and use present, especially in the forehead section. the cap is clearly ink stamped by the maker Robert Lubstein and dated 1941 as well as a clear size stamping of 57. A superb, salty condition untouched officer example.
