GERMAN WWII ALBERT SPEER PRIVATE PHOTOGRAPH ALBUM.

An exceptionally unusual and a unique item belonging to the former Reich Minister Albert Speer. The album measures 19 x 19cm contains 23 black and white photographs, whilst Albert Speer was a prisoner in Spandau Prison in Berlin. The front cover has the official paper seal of Allied Prison Spandau Official. Many shots from Albert Speer’s prison life, the interior of his cell, in the garden, in the library, eating with a night cap on. The album is partially labelled by the prison authorities. Albert Speer holding a set of keys, the annotation to the photograph of Albert Speer holding a set of keys reads ‘SPECIAL ORDERS FOR MAIN GATE POST, SPANDAU ALLIED PRISON. UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES WILL I OPEN THE OUTER GATES UNLESS DIRECTED TO DO SO BY THE GATE WARDER OR BY ONE OF THE ALLIED GOVERNORS.’ A quite unique photograph, which is a body cut-out of Albert Speer taken from the rear wearing what appears to be a corduroy jacket with ‘Prisoner No.5’ stencilled to his back. The provenance of this is from the direct sale from the Speer family.
