GERMAN WWII NSKK MARINE OFFICERS CHAINED DAGGER.
One of the rarest of the series of Third Reich dress daggers, the NSKK marine officers, identical in construction to the standard Silver/White metal plated NSKK officers dagger, with a copper wash indicating the officer was a member of the small units of NSKK marine personnel. Blade superb with much original cross grain finish remaining marked RZ M7/66 with date 1940. The copper wash good overall with slight losses to the front and rear of the upper cross guard also to the centre of the lower cross guard, the upper scabbard mount complete, to the central scabbard mount 25% of the wash missing, to the lower scabbard mount 10% missing, the wash to the chains is all complete the chains marked in two places, the scabbard retaining all of its original black painted finish with age bleed coming through the paint from the steel base of the scabbard, the grip excellent, no bruising or repairs, the enamel to the SA inset excellent, good quality aluminium national eagle, a common feature we have noticed over the years is the weakness in part of the stamping of the NSKK markings on the reverse side of one of the chain links, invariably the first one or two letters are hardly visible and this is the case with this example. A very rare dagger.
