A private purchase saddle shaped enlisted man’s or NCOs visor cap of the reserve section of the Luftwaffe or late war field Poilce of the Luftwaffe. Private quality grained officers cloth. At first glance the cap would appear to have yellow waffenfarbe, however this has faded from the rare Luftwaffe colour of orange designating a member of the Luftwaffe reserve or Luftwaffe late war field police, lifting the rear overhang the upper section of the waffenfarbe on the mohair band is distinctively orange also slightly lifting the front chinstrap the colour below is a faded orange the remainder of the waffenfarbe has toned to a flight yellow. A matched set of stamped steel Luftwaffe Eagle and cockade, standard leather chinstrap, double thickness edge to the visor, no moth to any part of the cap. To the interior the mid tan leather sweatband all complete some loose stitches close to the forehead area and minor abrasions to the leather at the rear, the sidelining is in the classic russet brown brushed cotton, with the crown lining in the again russet brown but stronger waterproof material. The centre central lozenge of large size and complete without any maker or retailer’s markings, stamped size 54 ½ To the interior of the leather sweatband a name appears to have been erased.
