PRUSSIAN 1ST OR 3RD GUARD UHLAN NCO'S HELMET.

A rare helmet from the 1st or 3rd Guard Uhlan Regiment worn by an NCO. Good large size helmet, the skull excellent, the mortarboard top is of the attached type also constructed in leather, slight sinking of the mortarboard into the skull. Minor congealing to the mortarboard top. The front peak is securely attached to the helmet. The large front Guard plate with its enlisted ranks overlay star being in white metal with a set of officers domed chin scales fitted, which is absolutely correct for a Uhlan helmet. One single Reich cockade of enlisted ranks style. The helmet is also fitted with its black and white field cockade. To the interior an officers leather liner and silk secondary liner is fitted, evidence of wear use without any damage. One front plate securing nut and washer missing from the area fixing the plate to the helmet, the plate however sits firmly on the main body.
