A very nice condition size 56 marine veterans cap. The veterans caps with silver insignia for the army are relatively easy to find, with gold insignia for the naval veterans is far more difficult. This near mint example with beautiful quality cloth, all gilding to the Veterans Association eagle and cockade perfect with frosted highlights. Undamaged enamel to the black Iron Cross to the centre of the eagle, soft leather crushable peak, patent leather cap band with anchor side buttons. To the inside blue silk lining complete with its centre celluloid lozenge having the gold blocked ‘M-Bundesmutze’ with the maker’s name in gold. The sweatband is in good bright tan leather, virtually unworn.
