GERMAN THIRD REICH ARMY/LUFTWAFFE GAU MOSCOW PAPERWORK GROUPING.

A very unusual grouping all to Obergefreiten Wilhelm Lang, War Service Cross 2nd Class citation in a Luftwaffe unit NACHSCHUBKOMP.D.LW.5/III FELDLUFTZEUGGRUPPE MOSCOW. Date of award 31st March 1942 and indelible pencil signed by Lieutenant General Fischer, Commanding Officer of Luftgau Moscow. Folded twice with slightly stained and foxed edges. A very poor condition and held together by sellotape A5 citation for the Infantry Assault Badge, field altered from the General Assault Badge whilst a member of LW.NACHSCHKP.5 issued 20th May 1942, pen signed by Major General, this being a rare issue of the Infantry Assault Badge to a Luftwaffe member. Torn across the fold and held together by a cross of sellotape with foxed edges. This is double sided. Iron Cross 2nd Class A5 sized citation, one tear to the left hand side of the award, folded twice, standard printed citation but the recipient details filled in by ink pen, issued to Lang whilst a member of Fusilier Regiment 39, dated 27th November 1943. Wound Badge in black citation, standard printed and typed whilst a member of 10th Battalion Fusilier Regiment 39, awarded 3.1.1944, pen signed by Unit Doctor in Warsaw and finally the A5 citation for the Winter Medal in the East. No unit mentioned, dated ?1st September 1942 pen signed by Captain and Company Commander. The 18th Panzer Grenadier Division had been formed from the 18th Motorised Infantry Division in June 1943. In November 1943 it was part of the 4th Army Group Mitte and was destroyed on the Soviet June offensive. If the condition of these citations could come to life the history behind the actions would be fascinating.
