GERMAN WWII SS MAN’S M 33 DAGGER BY HERDER.

An exceptionally clean blade by Richard Herder of Solingen. All cross-grain finish remaining, good depth to the etched motto, nickel upper and lower grip mounts, the lower grip mount marked Roman numeral I on the reverse side. Undamaged Ebony wood grip, good quality national eagle and SS runic inset. Fitted into its nickel mounted scabbard, with all the anodising remaining to the scabbard body itself, one small minor indentation and split to the lower ball. Fitted with its black leather vertical hanger and heavy nickel belt clip. Interestingly lightly engraved to the front of the lower scabbard mount 11-13-44 , this date covers the period of the battle for the Fortress of Metz, and we must assume that this date has been lightly engraved to the cross guard by an American soldier, this dagger was last purchased from Regimentals in May 2021.
