GERMAN WWI PRUSSIAN GENERALS PICKLEHAUBE.
A very good and large size all leather Picklehaube for a Prussian general. Size 57, excellent skull with very minor surface crazing to the leather overall, both front and rear peaks firmly stitched to the main body. All of the gilded fittings which include the backstrap, fluted spike and spike base, large guard front plate with enamelled overlay star, curved chin scales, and square edged peak trim all match in colour and condition. The helmet is complete with its national and state cockades, the enamel to the front plate is undamaged, which includes the white background to the motto and the black enamel to the Black Eagle order. To the interior the helmet is complete with its original leather sweatband showing wear use, the inner silk liner is missing, the interior of the front and rear peaks are green and red imitation leather lined. The colour of the interior skull has its original leather light tan, it is pencil -sized marked 57. The split pin that holds the front section of the cruciform spike base to the helmet has broken away, all other split pins and nuts and washers are present. A very fine example of a Prussian Generals helmet.
