GERMAN WWI PAPER CLOTH PICKELHAUBE COVER.
The officers pickelhaube covers are generally available but not in this construction, anything produced in paper cloth should be considered rare. This method of construction was introduced when other forms of materials were getting very difficult to obtain due to the allied blockades of Germany. Perfect condition, maker marked Vorn to the interior of the front peak, some traces of Shellac on both front and back peaks of the cover where it has been resting against a black leather Shellac helmet, the cover otherwise excellent condition. The cover is of large proportions and would fit any helmet from 57 through to 59 or even 60. ). Ex Michael Baldwin collection. Shown on page 15 of Feldzug 1917.
