GERMAN WWI REGT 74 PRUSSIAN FELT PICKELHAUBE.
An ultra rare helmet from WWI being the all one-piece felt ersatz helmet, regimentally issued to Infantry Regiment 74. It is generally very unusual to find any ersatz felt helmets that is regimentally marked, this helmet is not only regimentally marked but it is to the well known 74th, one of the regiments that was entitled to wear the Prussian plate with the Waterloo scroll. The skull is absolutely perfect, no back spine ever fitted, non removable brass spike and circular spike base with matching coloured front plate with the Waterloo picked out in black. Original chinstrap with brass buckles. Prussian and State cockade. Lining all complete with its original drawstring. Clearly stamped into the interior back peak ‘I.R.74’ with a good clear date of ‘1915’. Some light restoration to the fitting of the liner to the helmet evident.
