GERMAN WWII DEUTSCHLAND UNTERSTURMFUHRER’S PRE WAR TUNIC.
The rare field grey version of the black Allgemeine tunic worn by officers of the newly formed Waffen SS in field situations, introduced prior to WWII but worn considerably into the early years of WWII. This example worn by a Waffen SS Untersturmfuhrer of Division Deutschland. This tunic itself is in fabulous condition, standard configuration of four button closure, deep turn back cuffs, Allgemeine SS skirted rear panels, silver piping to the collar, two upper patch pockets, two lower angled pockets with flaps. The insignia fitted are a set of stitch-in matt field grey shoulder boards for an Untersturmfuhrer with combined red and black underlay for a SSArtillery unit, a very nice set of the Waffen SS runic officers collar patch with the matching rank patch , a SS Old Fighters chevron to the upper left hand sleeve as the tunic is viewed. To the upper right hand sleeve a high quality heavy wire woven officers arm eagle. To the lower right sleeve cuff the SS Division Deutschland flat wire officers cuff title. To the upper right breast five loops for a short medal ribbon bar and three sets of double loops for other awards. The ribbon of the Iron Cross 2nd class to the upper buttonhole. To the interior a tailor’s label of ‘Spohn & Kaliber, Ulm’ fitted. An interior dagger hanger with the tailored hole passing through the inner lining to the lower right hand pocket. There is no moth damage anywhere or serious staining.
