GERMAN WWII ASSAULT GUN ARTILLERY EARLY PATTERN DENIM TUNIC.

An ultra rare tunic sold by Regimentals many years ago, now has been consigned back to us by a very serious collector. This is the early mouse grey wrap over denim jacket without the patch pocket, it has the double row of buttons in the zeltbahn style so that the tunic can be worn over a panzer jacket or on its own, by having the two row of buttons means that the tunic is adjustable for the time of year. Thousands of pictures exist of the reed green and the mouse grey denim jacket being worn. This example is even rarer as it was worn by a Der Speiss of an assault gun unit. Two row of silver tress to the lower sleeves. Army nco’s silver weave breast eagle fitted with cross hatch stitching. The collar patches are of a matching pair of panzer skulls fitted to a section of reed green herring tone twill material with red silk piping surrounding. The slip-on nco’s shoulder boards are slate grey wool with matching red silk piping. To the lower right breast are loops fitted for three separate awards and the markings of where the badges once sat are clear and visible. The jacket has faded in its exposed areas, beneath the large collar is the original mouse grey and below the shoulder boards, on pulling back firmly on one of the collar patches the different shading of the mouse grey can be seen below the collar patch piping. To the lower part of the tunic are two apertures for a waist belt to pass through. The jacket is completely unlined and the lower left inside are the faint remains of size stampings. A very rare tunic for the armoured forces collector. The tunic is of a large size. Interestingly the late war constructed slate grey shoulder boards are partly lined to the interior with matching green herringbone twill material as are the constructed collar patches.
