GERMAN WWI FELT PICKLEHAUBE WITH ORIGINAL COVER.

A very good complete helmet being the Prussian ersatz felt helmet, the body of the felt nice and strong, no damage, a slight flattening of the rear peak where it has laid on a collectors shelf for many years, all of the brass fittings have toned to a good deep patination, with its original national and state cockades, correct strap with its subdued brass fittings. The helmet has its original field trench cover fitted which has had the number hand applied of 215. The faint traces of an original owner’s name hand applied in ink to the inner rear peak the nine tongue liner all complete slightly loose from the main body with broken threads at the front half of the helmet and slightly at the rear, the skull unusually in a large size. The tapes that hold the spike cover to the main cover have all broken and the spike is held to the main cover by threads.
