GERMAN WWII AFRIKA KORPS 1ST PATTERN M40 VISORED FIELD CAP.

A very good service worn size 55 1st pattern Afrika Korps visored field cap with soutache removed, the soutache was removed under the 1942 regulations. This example has seen service wear. No damage or staining to the exterior, slight fading of the olive drab material. Black markings along the edge of the peak where the cap has been taken on and off continuously. The insignia fitted is in the classic Carl Halfar manner of cross hatched stitching to the Bevo woven blue on tan eagle and matching cockade. Some slight oxidisation to the air vents on the left hand side of the cap as the cap is worn. To the red lining indication of wear use around the forehead area. The ‘Carl Halfar’ maker’s stamp faintly visible along with the very faint size 55 stamping. A good service worn 1st pattern cap.
