BRITISH WWI 1895 PATTERN OFFICERS PRESENTATION SWORD.

A superb blade on this 1895 pattern officers sword. GR scroll below the crown, floriated patterns to both sides. To the presentation panel a dedication reading ‘PRESENTED TO CAPTAIN J.W. SHAW BY OFFICERS, NCO, MEN AND COMMITTEE PLATOONS 5 AND 8 B 1ST BATTALION BARNSLEY & DISTRICT W.R.VOLUNTEERS, AS A MARK OF ESTEEM 27TH NOVEMBER 1916’. Sword blade by Sanderson Brothers, Sheffield. The nickel plating to the GR bowl hilt is magnificent, ray skin grip excellent with its grip wire complete, in its leather field service scabbard that does not have any abrasions and complete with its suede leather sword knot.
