BRITISH WWI SHEEPSKIN JERKIN.
An incredibly rare item of clothing of a British officer of WWI being the sheepskin sleeveless jerkin seen worn in many images, worn by officers in the trenches and by RFC Officers, also by enlisted men. Constructed from a sheepskin very similar to the WWII British Irvin flying jacket with a single waist belt that is sewn attached to the rear of the jerkin and a neck closure strap and buckle that comes diagonally from the right hand shoulder as the garment is worn and buckles up across the neck of the wearer. Two period patch repairs, a small portion of the sheepskin lining missing from one inner shoulder area but otherwise generally good. What appears to be blood stains both to the interior and exterior of the sheepskin are evident with the name Page applied in indelible pencil to the rear of the jerkin.
