GERMAN WWII ALLGEMEINE SS OFFICERS VISOR CAP.

A very nice example of the Allgemeine SS officers visor cap with an interesting back story. The cap constructed in the most encountered ribbed material in black with its black velvet centre band, white piped crown and upper and lower sections of the velvet centre band, fitted with a set of officer’s silver bullion cords. A nice, matched set of SS eagle and skull. no moth anywhere on the body of the cap. To the interior the leather sweatband in place but split in two places and various tears in several other parts, the upper inner crown and the sidelining all in a light cream satin material. The central centre lozenge intact with the flaky remains of the central gold SS runic symbol below, with stamped size 56 also in gilt. In the small aperture below the SS runic symbol a piece of typed paper has been placed by the soldier who retrieved and captured this cap, the label reads Gordon Yates H/506, 101st Airborne Saubach Austria. Beneath the leather sweatband is the faded remains of the SS canvas issue label.
