GERMAN WWI HESSE 23RD & 24TH DRAGOONS ENLISTED NCO PARADE PICKLEHAUBE.

A rare helmet being the NCO all leather picklehaube worn by a member of the 23rd or 24th Hessian Dragoon Regiment, both of those regiments had all white metal fittings . the leather skull good and strong, minor crazing overall with one small area of loss of the skin to the left hand side of the Hessian front plate as the helmet is viewed, one of the spike cross base white metal domes is missing, the helmet is complete with its non-serrated style Hessian cockade and its national standard, serrated style cockade, the chin scales are of the correct domed style. To the interior the well-used officers quality leather sweatband is intact with the remains of its loosely attached inner silk. This is a slightly earlier pattern of helmet possibly around 1900.
