GERMAN WWII SS MARKED BOOT KNIFE.

A good example of the standard boot knife, some minor evidence of sharpening to the edge of the blade but the profile has not been lost. Interestingly at the flat section of the blade close to the cross guard is the lozenge shaped SS stamping, this is quite an indistinct marking with the lower half of the runes missing and the lower half to the left of the lozenge edge missing indicating that the stamping was weak. Collectors and researchers of German weapons will recognise this marking as being quite often found on SS issued MP40’s. The wood grips generally good with some minor abrasions. Interestingly the wear/owner had inserted an enamelled SS runic insignia from a dagger within the grip of the boot knife. The knife is with its original scabbard with sprung loaded boot clip, slight loss of finish to the scabbard near the base. A rare item.
