GERMAN WWII BATTLE DAMAGED M16 HELMET.
A lovely relic of WWII being an M.16 style German trench helmet that has been refurbished for the Second World War having an army single decal applied and an M.40 liner, it has subsequently been battle damaged and painted Souvenired. The exterior shell retaining most of its original paint finish. A round has pierced the left hand side of the helmet as the helmet is viewed and exited on the right hand side, the blow has knocked some of the paint away, not only in the area of the exit hole but in other areas on that side of the helmet, which has removed some of the paint and subsequently some of the single army decal, as can be viewed on our web images. The round has passed right through the lining to the inside, which otherwise is all complete and is in good order with a lot of original colour, the liner is stamped size 55. Painted around the crown of the helmet in white paint are the words We met him finish with a victory V at the front, our understanding of this phrase does not make sense in English, we suspect this may have been painted by a person not fully understanding the English language, however a very interesting battlefield relic.
