GERMAN RUSSIAN FRONT SHEEPSKIN COAT.

One of the various garments produced within Germany and the eastern territories for their troops who were totally unprepared for the Russian winter. A ¾ length sheepskin coat, original white to the outside but has either been toned down or through natural wear has turned to a grey. There are various repairs. Two pocket openings. The collar has been formed from a German Army greatcoat. One of the pocket bags is large, made from a German Army flour sack, the other shorter bag from standard canvas. No facilities for buttons but what appears to be two positions for wooden toggles to be fitted, which are missing and two loops for the section of the coat to be fitted to the toggles. Excellent for a Russian Front display.
