GERMAN WWII LUFTWAFFE OFFICERS VISOR CAP.

A magnificent quality very high saddle shape large size 58 Luftwaffe officers visor cap, constructed in the Luftwaffe officers lightly grained material. No moth damage anywhere on the cap. Silver waffenfarbe to the crown and to the upper and lower sections of the mohair centre band. An identical matching quality set of wire woven Luftwaffe eagle and national cockade with matching cap cords. The peak has the commonly encountered double ribbed edge, one slight area of congealing to the left hand side and a minor crease to the ribbed edge. On inverting the cap the upper inner crown lining in light grey rayon, under the totally undamaged centre celluloid lozenge the printed details of the manufacturer ‘VERKAUFS ABTEILUNG DER LUFTWAFFE BERLIN SW68 ERST KLASSIG’ with a paper label stating size ‘58’. The sweatband is in the light grey leather with evidence of minor wear use, also stamped size ‘58’ with the oval maker’s stamp of ‘CLEMENS WAGNER, BRAUNSCHWEIG’ to the inside of the band, The cork cushion still situated within the forehead area of the cap behind the grey leather sweatband. A superb example of a Luftwaffe officers cap, difficult to better in condition.
