GERMAN WWII FORESTRY CUTLASS BY HORSTER & CITATION.

An excellent set comprising the Forestry Association cutlass with an excellent blade by E & F Horster of Solingen, blade length 33cm overall length including the hilt 53cm. The blade is good and bright without any black spotting. Slight rubbing marks from where the blade has been passed in and out of the scabbard. All of the forestry scene etching to both sides are absolutely perfect and clear, with its original green felt washer. Good gilt to the hilt. Undamaged grip. All 6 acorns, 3 on each side of the grip intact with its forestry silver and green knot. Fitted into its brown leather scabbard of which the leather is good and supple. Good gilt to the scabbard fittings and complete with its green pebbled leather frog. Accompanying the dagger is a very attractive document measuring 33 x 24. The leather folder being in the identical green leather as to the frog on the dagger. The silk to the inside of the folder is green watered silk. The double sided vellum document is fully hand illustrated, which reads ‘From the German Forestry Officials in the Reichs Confederation of German Civil Servants on the 10th April 1935 with Huntsman Salvation and Bargaining and thoughts of Adolf Hitler, the faithful devotion the award is presented’ and signed by the Clerk to the 11th Forestry Administration at the Reich Office of the RDB. A very nice matched set.
