IMPERIAL GERMAN PRUSSIAN 5TH DRAGOONS FIELD GREY ENLISTED RANKS TUNIC.
A most magnificent field grey tunic for an enlisted man in the 2nd Squadron 5th Dragoon Regiment. The field grey of the shoulder boards matches exactly the weight and colour of the tunic itself. Red piped pointed shoulder board, No.2 Squadron buttons to each shoulder board. Finely embroidered regimental number ‘5’. Prussian silver discs to the collar. All of the tunic buttons matching in white metal, All of the closure buttons and pocket buttons are full backed, the cuff and skirt buttons are all hollow backed, the thread attaching all the buttons are identical indicating that no buttons have been lost and replaced. The metallic cuff adjuster buttons are in place. The rear skirt has its two hidden interior pockets. The lining is in two parts, the upper part being in a herringbone twill cream, nicely marked ‘B.A.X1 1915’ (11th Army Corps) followed by ‘D.R.5’ in a further block, the lower half in a grey cotton lining material, There is an extra hidden pocket just inside the front skirt, that has one metallic button missing. Both belt support rank buttons are white metal crowned and securely attached to the main body of the tunic. This is a large size tunic, there is not one spot of moth anywhere, it is probably the most magnificent Dragoon enlisted ranks depot issued tunic we have ever owned. All of the markings match the correct Army Corps and the correct colours for the tunic, it has not been interfered with or played within any shape or form.
