CANADIAN ROYAL FLYING CORPS BREECHES.
An extremely rare pair of other ranks issued breeches, these are in typical Canadian coarse other ranks wool and have no reinforcing to the inner legs and would have be worn with puttees. The Canadian military provided a great deal of personnel in terms of flying and much training was undertaken in Canada. This particular pair of breeches have a good paper label still intact, printed 'Royal Flying Corps' and Toronto 1918. There are other acceptance stamps throughout. The lining is of coarse olive linen. The buttons are Canadian all metal types including the fly button, which is a mechanically attached riveted type button. Unfortunately these have suffered greatly from moth and this has been well restored to the legs and these still would make an intriguing display item. Any item of RFC clothing has always been considered rare, this is the first pair of Canadian breeches we have ever encountered.
