GERMAN WWII KRIEGSMARINE ADMINISTRATION OFFICIALS OVERSEAS CAP.
A scarce, possibly French made blue overseas cap for an Administration Officer of the Kriegsmarine. Silver piping to the sides of the boat shaped overseas cap, fitted with yellow on blue Bevo woven eagle and swastika, which has degraded on the breast of the eagle and slightly to the wings, with its matching Bevo woven Marine national lozenge, with the inverted V waffenfarbe of light blue. An old label attached to this cap reads ‘OKM Official High Command’. Large size cap, although not size stated on test approximately 57 with the faint traces of circular maker’s stamp to the inner brushed cotton lining, circular makers stamps are always conversant with French manufacturers, and as is well known to collectors many of the overseas caps of the Kriegsmarine, whether it be the white summer caps, the Marine Artillery caps and the blue deck caps were made in France. It should be remembered that the collection that these overseas caps came from were being purchased in the 1950’s and 60’s.
