GERMAN WWII AFRIKA KORPS GREATCOAT.
In our opinion the most difficult item of Afrika Korps issued clothing to obtain. Hundreds of photographs can be seen of the men wearing the greatcoats, the desert in the night time is very cold and it is surprising how few of these greatcoats are left. Overall the nap of the cloth is superb with one 1 x 1½ cm moth hole to the collar. All original buttons fitted. One further moth nip just close to the pocket. Fitted with its very difficult to find greatcoat size Panzer Grenadier nco shoulder boards, the central cloth to the shoulder boards match the greatcoat exactly, the piping is in silk and they are of the slip-on variety, the centre of each shoulder board do have some moth tracking. Good clear maker’s mark ‘Peek & Cloppenburg of Berlin’ to the interior with subsequent size markings. The Company of Peek & Cloppenburg can still be seen in many German High Streets today.
