GERMAN WWII FIELD BISHOPS OVERSEAS CAP.

An extremely rare piece of Third Reich headdress being an overseas cap for an Army Field Bishop. Large size 58 ink stamped overseas cap in high ranking officers quality material. Gold waffenfarbe around the complete upper envelope and the front scallop of the cap. The silver Bevo woven eagle on green backing and bullion wire cockade for a Generals rank insignia of pre 1943, with the addition of the gold General rank Field Bishop cross and the inverted V of violet backing for the Chaplains Branch of Service. On the bullion wire cockade the outer strand of the silver wire to the cockade has come adrift from the cap. No moth damage. Signs of obvious wear use to the forehead area. The interior of the cap has the half size leather sweatband to the forehead area, which is marked ‘Qualitates Marke’. The lining is the standard brushed cotton.
