GERMAN WWII TRENCH ART BRASS BOX WITH DECORATIONS AND INSIGNIA OF A LUFTWAFFE FLAK MAN.
A beautifully crafted high quality brass rectangular box measuring 14 x 8 x 4 cm. The box has the engraved outline of the Flak 88 Anti Aircraft gun, three what appear to be unit insignias plus the Krim Shield to the lower right hand side. All this engraving is beautifully executed, at the front edge of the lid ‘1./Flak-Regt.64’ on the lower three sides of the box there are all the places in Russia that this airman served in, the top title ‘Ostfeldzug 1941,42,43’ there then follows 23 individual place names, again all superbly engraved. The box has a trade name on the base, some of the more well known named places that this Luftwaffe Flak soldier served in, Ukraine, Smolensk, Orel, Krim, Sevastopol, Rumania, Leningrad. The box has four brass solid feet, containing a non maker marked Luftwaffe Flak Badge with its original pin, hook and hinge, his Identity tag as a member of Flak Regiment 64 in two-piece aluminium, a mint unissued condition East Front Medal with ribbon, a small trench mirror, which we have seen before showing the outline of a Flak 88 with its crew on one side in raised relief, on the opposite side a mirror and finally a matched pair of collar patches for a Luftwaffe Flak Leutnant plus one single collar patch for a high ranking Flak NCO. A very nice personalised grouping for a soldier serving on the Eastern Front.
