GERMAN WWI MECKLENBURG SCHWERIN REGIMENT 90 PICKELHAUBE.
Any headdress from the small Duchy of Mecklenburg is rare, this excellent leather skull helmet with both peaks securely attached to the main body, this is the model from model 1867 with its unusual type spike and ball top. The Mecklenburg multi coloured cockade is situated on the right hand side of the helmet as the helmet is worn and the national cockade on the opposite side, with its standard Mecklenburg Schwerin front plate. Slightly heavier duty than normal leather chinstrap with brass fittings. Complete with its undamaged leather liner and fully regimentally marked to the inner rear spike, this can be seen in a particular type of light, it is ink stamped but clearly reads ‘Regiment 90’ with a date of ‘1890’.
