GERMAN WWII FLAK 88 ANTI AIRCRAFT GUN MODEL.

A most superb museum quality model of the famous Flak 88 anti aircraft and anti tank gun of WWII. The immense detail on this model can only warrant museum quality. The model is designed to fully transverse and to elevate. The transversing mechanism appears to be working correctly, however the elevation and depression gearing need some attention. The breech fully opens and closes. The two side legs, as per the original gun, are fully movable, they are made in aluminium, the main body of the gun is made in a combination of brass and steel. The hydraulic recoil mechanism is fully operational. The German Flak 88 originally developed in the 1930’s being used throughout WWII as an anti aircraft gun known as the Flak 18 and later the variations are used in the anti tank role and were found to be devastating against allied armour. We can only theorise as to the origins of this model, whether it was a factory display piece and/or an apprentice piece is open to discussion. Nevertheless a superb model of this famous weapon. It measures 70cm from the barrel tip to the end of the carriage, 30cm height of armoured shield, 60cm in width when the side arms are dropped with a 70cm fixed base.
