BRITISH WWII RAF FOLK ART PIECE.
A fantastic piece of history being a panel from what we presume to be an RAF wardrobe measuring 1530cm in height and 110cm at its widest point. A hand painted image of Adolf Hitler running with his two boots and one arm extending on either side of the central panel as additional pieces. Hitler is wearing a green uniform with swastika armband with the text above in red ‘LOOK OUT HITLER’ with below between his legs ‘WE ARE COMING’. The image below the text is the identical image of the RAF pilot looking towards the sky that can be seen in the famous WWII poster ‘THE MEN THAT SAVED THE WORLD’. We can only speculate and theorise as to where this was constructed and where it hung, we can believe that it was in a RAF mess but we can also believe that it was used for maybe fundraising for RAF charities and it was recently discovered in a barn in the County of Lincolnshire Great Britain where nearly all of both the RAF and American bomber bases were located. It has got superb natural age, luckily without losing any of the imagery and the effect, there is slight damage to the fingers of Hitler as they do extend out from the side of the panel. The reason we believe this to be from an RAF wardrobe is that between the words ‘OUT’ and ‘HITLER’ there is a circular brass fitting, which would appear to be the end fitting for a clothing rail to be fitted through within a wardrobe. We have had some of the items strengthened on the back to give it greater stability. This would be a magnificent piece for a private RAF display or any public or private museum. Folk art of this quality has not survived the intervening 80 or so years since the end of WWII.
