GERMAN WWII BAHNSCHUTZ POLIZEI COMPLETE UNIFORM.

A very difficult complete uniform to obtain being the Bahnschutz (Railway Protection Police) uniform of WWII. The uniform in its distinctive light blue, this was the only organisation of the Third Reich to use this colour, comprising of the saddle shaped visor cap, the tunic and the matching trousers. The Railway Protection Police was made up of full time and part time police officers who were employees of the Reichsbahn, they were tasked with railway safety also with preventing espionage and sabotage of railway property, it was founded in 1939. The saddle shaped visor cap with label stamped size ‘56’ having one moth nip only to the grey waffenfarbe just above the unique style Bahnschutz eagle. All the nap of the cloth to the cap complete, no other moth damage. The cap also has its unique style Bahnschutz national cockade, standard leather double buckled chinstrap. The sweatband in blue grey of the ersatz type is complete but is cracked in places. The interior lining in blue rayon. The full centre celluloid lozenge is complete, gold blocked ‘SONDERKLASSE’. The tunic is the four pocket style tunic, six button closure, the collar patches are of the winged wheel motif, the shoulder board is officer quality with regimental numbers ‘19’ below the winged wheel all in silver. Machine embroidered white on black Bahnschutz arm eagle. Superb condition, all nap to the cloth, no moth damage. The blue rayon lining matches the lining of the cap completely. A Bahnschutzpolizei stamp to the interior lining with a section of numbers over blocked stamp thus making the figures indecipherable. The trousers are of the same colour but a different quality, they are in a more officers smooth ribbed construction with a grey stripe down the side of the trousers. A very light peppering of moth in the crotch area. Although difficult to read a large Bahnshutzepoleiz stamping to the waistband. All of the cotton lining to the trousers themselves in matching blue. Any collector whose interests cover both railways, political and police this is a fine example for a collection.
