CANADIAN WWI MILLS EQUIPMENT
An extremely rare set of Mills equipment, which belonged to and was worn in WWI overseas by Major Thomas Jones 4th Canadian Mounted Rifles, Canadian Field Artillery. The set includes the rare 1911 U.S.Colt webbing holster with its metallic base cap. The Mills equipment belt, a single cross strap and the double magazine pouch. The holster is beautifully marked to the interior flap ‘Mills 1914’ with Canadian acceptance stamp. The magazine pouch with the Canadian acceptance stamp, also ‘Mills 1914’ inside the flap. The Mills waist belt has the name ‘T.R.Jones’ applied, the waist belt being marked ‘Mills 1914’. The Canadian government ordered 5,000 Colt 1911’s for the use of the expeditionary force with 5,000 unique sets of Mills webbing. Major Jones served in France from early 1915 to 1918.
