GERMAN WWII PEENEMUNDE ACCESS BADGE.

An extremely rare badge from the Third Reich period being the dye struck aluminium oval badges measuring 5.5 x 4.5cm. In raised relief to the top of the badge ‘KOMMANDANTUR’ below ‘DER VERSUCHSSTELLE PEENEMUNDE.a./U.’ below the Kommandantur a large ‘0’ to the centre the individual number ‘2152’ over a large army style eagle and swastika. This is issued to worker or employee number 2152 and the Army Research Rocket Centre at Peenemunde. Peenemunde is well known as the research centre for the V1 and V2 rockets, it was attacked by the RAF and production was moved to the mountain tunnels at Nordhausen.
