GERMAN WWI BRUNSWICK HUSSARS SWORD.
A beautiful condition model 1889 sword for a member of the Brunswick Hussar Regiment No.17, one of the two regiments to wear the skull and crossbones to the Hussar Busby, in amongst the premier Hussar Regiments of the Imperial German Army. The blade by WKC, full length, superb condition, slight spotting to the central blued panel, which reads ‘Braunschweig Husaren Regt No.17’ with the skull and crossbones either side of the regimental logo. The remainder of the blade with floriated scenes, mounted Hussars, horses heads. On the reverse side another central blued panel with whole line of mounted Hussars charging with stands of arms. The nickel finish to the hilt is excellent with its standard Prussian folding shell guard. Undamaged composition grip. Both of the shell guards fold correctly. In its original black scabbard that has some slight losses but only to the lacquer, virtually all of the paint remains.
