GERMAN WWII WAFFEN SS M.38 PALM TREE PATTERN CAMOUFLAGE SMOCK.
A superb example of the very first pattern of the SS camouflage smocks being the so-called palm tree pattern. Elasticated neck. Still with its original long rayon closing tape. Good bright colours, evidence of it having been washed. The original wearer added buttonholes and buttons to the upper pocket flaps, the two buttons on the spring side are missing but the two on the interior autumn side are still complete. One black small stain to the rear back panel. The waist elastic still in place. Another black stain just at the lower part of the left hand upper pocket flap as the smock is viewed. Slight looseness to the stitching on the strip of camouflage material that runs around the very base of the smock. Overall the smock is in magnificent condition considering the type of garment that it is, in that it has had no field repairs, no adjustments other than the buttonholes stated. It is with its original lace and still with its elastic to its neck and the waist.
