BRITISH WWII BOMBAY BLOOMERS.
Out of all the British uniform and equipment of WWII apart from some of the ultra rare paratrooper equipment, in our opinion the rarest piece of clothing are the shorts, colloquially known as the Bombay Bloomers. This is the first pair we have owned in over 45 years, they are absolutely mint condition, where they have been kept in all this time since WWII is unknown. They have never been issued, they are Indian made, they are clearly marked and dated ‘1940 size 4’ with an ink stamping inside the upper waistband. All the features including the double waistband buckles, the buttons for undoing the large turn ups which converts the shorts into three quarter length trousers are all complete. The machine tacks, which hold the bayonet pocket opening in place have never been opened. Amongst the British troops also the Indian troops the large turn up were never popular and virtually all of them in service were cut off, so to find a complete pair as stated previously is a near impossibility. Anybody wishing to complete a North Africa mannequin with the correct issue kit, this is the only opportunity that may ever arise.
