GERMAN WWII BLACK PANZER WRAPOVER TUNIC.
A very nice condition large size mid to late war example of the black Panzer wrap over tunic worn by an Obergefreiter in a Panzer Regiment. The tunic is of late war construction, within the wool can be seen many of the substitute materials needed to counter the shortage of full wool cloth, there is a huge distinct difference between late war material and early war material, the earlier is much smoother, the later has a rougher quality and also has on occasion a purple heu to the black. No moth or damage. Fitted with the late war unlined pink silk piped shoulder boards with pink silk piped collar patches with a matching set of aluminium jawless skulls. Iron Cross 2nd class ribbon to the upper button hole. Obergefreiter rank patch to the right hand sleeve. The grey green rayon lining profusely size stamped with a depot stamp of what appears to be ‘WB43’ or could possibly just be ‘B’ with a mis-stamp of the first digit. Faint remains of the RB issue number to the lower inner section of the lining. The tunic is full length with all four buttonholes, we mention this as it was quite a common occurrence and the fashion at the time for the soldiers to shorten the tunic and lose the bottom buttonhole, this in our opinion has never been an affect on the value of these tunics, in this case it its full length.
